Develop animated models using the scratch tool
Scratch Description:
- Scratch is a free programmable toolkit that enables children to create their own games, animated stories, and interactive art and share their creations with each other on the Internet.
- Scratch is being developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Research Group at MIT Media Lab in collaboration with the KIDS Research Group at UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
- To open scratch, double-click or scratch the scratch (cat) icon. Click exe
- When you open Scratch, you should see this default screen:
- You will see that the default sprite is an orange cat.
(Sprite is a small graphic that can be moved freely around the screen, creating animated effects.) - You can choose a different sprite for the program from a library in scratch, or you can draw your own! You will create your sprite later.
- To select a sprite from the scratch library, click on the folder with the star icon. Whenever your mouse comes over it, it will say “Select a new sprite from the file”.
- In the top, left corner of your scratch window, you will see 8 buttons.
- Each of these buttons has programming blocks in those particular areas.
- We will experiment with motion blocks first.
- You can also set the motion block to move a negative number of pixels by writing a negative number in the block.
- This will move your sprite in the opposite direction to the number of pixels.
- A pixel is one of the smaller units that form an image on a computer or television screen.
It is derived from Picture Picture and Element to create pics! - The scratch step is 480 pixels wide and 360 pixels high.
