What is a App?
You are probably comfortable with the idea of ​​the App Store. Whether you are downloading the app on your phone, tablet, computer, or other device, you will need to download and install the app to make the most of your technology. Salesforce is the same way.

Salesforce has a community of partners that uses the flexibility of the Salesforce platform to create amazing applications that anyone can use. These applications are available for installation on AppExchange (some for free, some at cost).Install Apps and Packages in Your Trailhead Playground

What is the package?

A package is a set of pre-made configurations and development. At various points in your trailhead learning journey, you may need to set up a package to complete a challenge or work through the stages in a badge.

Packages allow us to load sample data, custom objects and fields, or just about anything else in your trailhead playground.

Install an app or package in your trailhead playground
To install an app or package in your trailhead playground, all you need is the package ID provided in the trailhead content. It is a long string that starts at 04t – you will know it when you see it.

First things first: Launch your trailhead playground by going to the challenge with any hands, scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking Launch. If you see a tab in your organ, install a package, fantastic! Follow the steps in your playground. Below is the Playground Starter App section. Install Apps and Packages in Your Trailhead Playground

If not, click on the App Launcher to launch the App Launcher, then click on the Playground Starter and keep reading. If you don’t see the Playground Starter app, go ahead and go to your Playground Starter, don’t go to the Playground Starter App section.

If you have a playground starter app in your playground, follow these steps to install the app or package.Install Apps and Packages in Your Trailhead Playground

Find the package ID starting at 04t and copy it to your clipboard.
Click the Install Package tab.
Paste the package ID into the field.
Click on install.

Choose Install for Admins Only, then click Install.

If you ask a pop-up to approve third-party access, select Yes, grant access to these third-party websites, and click Continue.
When your package or app is installed, you see a confirmation page and receive an email to the address associated with your playground.

Your playground is not a play ground starter app
If you don’t have a playground starter app in your playground, never be afraid. Follow these steps to install the package. To do this, you will need your username and password for your trailhead playground, as well as a package installation link. If you do not have your username and password, go to the previous unit and get them.

Next, take a look at that installation link. Does it start with appexchange.salesforce.com? If so, then you are installing an app, not a package, and you can proceed to the next section, Install an AppExchange App. Otherwise, you are installing a package, and you can keep reading.

Open a new private browsing window. In Chrome, click on File New Ecognito Window. In Safari, click on File. New Private Window. This ensures that you install the package in your playground, and not any other ORGs you have opened. Copy the package installation link and paste it into your private browsing window.
You will be prompted to login. Enter your trailhead playground’s username and password and click Login.
Choose Install for Admins only, then click Install.

When your package or app is finished installing, you will see a confirmation page and receive an email to the address associated with your playground.

Install an AppExchange App
To install something from Salesforce AppExchange in your trailhead playground, you will need your playground username and password. If you do not already have the credibility of your playground, look at the previous unit and follow the instructions to get them.

Once you have your trailhead playground username and password, connect your trailhead playground account to your trailblazer.me profile.

Open AppExchange in a new tab.
Click your avatar to open your Trailblazer.me account menu, then click Settings.
In the Salesforce Accounts section, click Connect.
If you see the Choose Username page, log in, click on a different username. If you see a login page, proceed to the next step.
Enter your trailhead playground username and password, then click Login.
Click Link Account.

Install the Dashboard Pal app a Salesforce Labs app that allows users to display available dashboards in their org, to get the hang of the installation process, If you already have the Dashboard Pal app installed, then either delete the package or use a new Trailhead Playground for this hands-on challenge.
