The wait is almost over. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on Thursday, 19 November 2026, and publisher Take-Two has repeatedly said the date has not changed. Here is what you need to know before launch day.

- Platforms at launch: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only
- PC: no official date, and it is widely expected to arrive in 2027 at the earliest
How the game ended up in November
GTA 6 was first aimed at the autumn of 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, and finally pushed to 19 November 2026. Rockstar announced the second delay on 6 November 2025 and said the extra six months were needed to give players the polish they expect. It is the first mainline Grand Theft Auto game since GTA 5, which launched more than a decade ago.
Is another delay possible?
Take-Two’s chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, has said he is highly confident in the November date and has repeated it on the company’s earnings calls. Take-Two also said the marketing campaign would begin in summer and has forecast record bookings for its next fiscal year because of the game. Those are strong signs, but the game has slipped twice before, so it is sensible to wait for the final confirmation that it has gone gold.
What about PC?
Take-Two has not given a PC release date. Zelnick has been asked about it directly, and most outlets expect the PC version to come later, likely in 2027. If you game on PC, plan to wait.
How to prepare
- Check your console storage space, since a game this large will need a big download.
- Pre-order only from official stores such as the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store or major retailers.
- Beware of scams and fake keys, especially on social media and unofficial resale sites.
- Look for Black Friday offers on consoles and accessories, which arrive just a week after launch on 27 November.
